Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial

The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial, established by Symbiosis International University, reflects the institution’s guiding principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – The World is One Family.” Conceived by its Founder Director, S. B. Mujumdar, the memorial honors B. R. Ambedkar as a national icon who championed social justice, equality, and national unity.

The foundation stone was laid on April 14, 1990, by Sharad Pawar during Ambedkar’s birth centenary year. Built on land granted by the Government of Maharashtra on Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, the museum is designed in the shape of a Buddhist stupa. It serves as an inspiring space for Indian and international students to learn about Dr. Ambedkar’s life, achievements, and enduring legacy.
